A message from the department chair, Dr. Scott Hutchens
In the Department of Psychology, our undergraduate and graduate students engage in coursework and transformative learning activities such as research and service learning. This combination of high-impact practices gives students the opportunity to develop marketable skills employers seek, including research, critical thinking, teamwork and written and oral communication skills. Our program emphasizes excellence in instruction by providing a friendly environment, knowledgeable and enthusiastic professors and opportunities for students to develop intellectually, professionally and socially. The psychology program is unique in that we offer students the rare opportunity to engage in faculty-mentored research as undergraduates. Our diverse faculty members are highly skilled and engaging professors, as well as active researchers. In addition to providing students with an excellent education in psychology and marketable skills, we also focus on the importance of interpersonal experiences, professional experiences and graduate school preparation.
I welcome you to explore the undergraduate and graduate programs the Department of Psychology has to offer. If you have any questions about majoring in psychology, please feel free to contact me.
