A community of East Texas history lovers
The East Texas Historical Association was founded in 1962 on the SFA campus to bring together members of the academic community and the general public for the preservation and enhancement of East Texas’ historical heritage.
Through meetings, publications and other efforts, the East Texas Historical Association attempts to discover, collect and preserve historical records, artifacts and sites related to East Texas history and to publish those findings for the education and benefit of the public.
Student opportunities
East Texas Historical Association membership is open to undergraduate students at SFA, as well as graduate students and faculty members. As a member, you will have opportunities to network with professional historians and teachers, as well as access to preservation projects, lectures and professional publications. The East Texas Historical Association also awards annual scholarships and research grants to students and researchers focusing on East Texas history.
