July 1 deadline for piano/strings camp registration

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Strings and piano students from across the state still have time to register for a one-week strings and piano camp presented by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music Sunday, July 7, through Friday, July 12.

July 1 is the deadline for registration in the camp, according to Gene Moon, SFA director of orchestral activities and the camp administrator.

Through each day of the camp, strings and piano students in seventh through 12th grades will be immersed in quality music making in group and one-on-one master class situations, Moon said.

"Students will have the unique opportunity to interact with the SFA faculty and guest artists as well as the SFA college music majors who make the camp an enriching experience," Moon said.

The camps will culminate in concerts in Cole Concert Hall on Friday, July 12. Pianists will perform two recitals at 11 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. The final gala string concert will be at 3 p.m.

The camps are open to junior high or high school students who can either stay on campus all week or register as commuters with an optional meal plan.
