SFA's 'Musica Bella' registration open

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - East Texans interested in responding to music through art can still make reservations for "Musica Bella" from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednedsay, June 24, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St.

Participants will be joining over 30 art educators enrolled in the 2009 Art Educators' Retreat offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art to create paintings as they listen to music provided by SFA music faculty members Scott Harris and Mark Turner.

On display at The Art Center will be the artwork created by the participants in the four-day retreat.

"This is going to be such a fun event that we wanted to open it up to the community as well," said Marsha Blount, SFA assistant professor of art and the retreat's director. "Space is limited, however, to the first 15 registrants."

The $25 registration fee covers the wine and heavy hors d'oeuvres that will be served as well as the art supplies that will be used. The event is sponsored by the SFA Friends of the Visual Arts and Nacogdoches Junior Forum.
