NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - An art exhibition by Michelle Rozic, assistant professor of art at Stephen F. Austin State University, will open from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, in the Reavley Gallery of The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St. in Nacogdoches.

"Michelle Rozic: Ecotone" features dioramas and two-dimensional works "representing natural history, at the place where domestic ornamentation meets a cabinet of curiosities," explained the artist.

Her combining of fine art materials with craft and scrapbooking items in her works goes hand-in-hand with the definition she gives of "ecotone"-"a transitional zone between two ecosystems, blending characteristics of each and developing its own unique characteristics."

A member of the SFA faculty since 2007, Rozic teaches undergraduate and graduate drawing and printmaking classes. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Columbus College of Art & Design and her Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from Indiana University, Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts.

In 2008, Rozic received the a Purchase Award from the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts for her "Germination 2" which was included in the 2008 Pacific States Biennial National Print Exhibition.

Rozic's art will be included in "Through Women's Eyes," an exhibition at Lone Star College in the Woodlands Jan. 12 through Feb. 5. Previously, her work has been exhibited in Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, Indiana, Ohio, Oregon, Massachusetts, Wisconsin and Washington, D.C.

"Michelle Rozic: Ecotone" is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts, School of Art and the Gallery Series. It is sponsored in part by the SFA Friends of the Visual Arts and Nacogdoches Junior Forum. The exhibition will run through Saturday, Sept. 26.
