NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Reservations are now being accepted for a bus tour to the Dallas Cultural Arts District on Friday, Feb. 13, sponsored by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art.

Participants will be able to visit the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center and the Crowe Collection of Asian Art.

"The highlight of the trip will be 'Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs' at the Dallas Museum of Art," said Jill Carrington, SFA associate professor of art history and the trip's coordinator.

The exhibition includes 50 burial objects from the tomb of Tutankhamun (who reigned from 1333 to 1323 B.C.), including the gold crown found on his mummified body and one of the gold and precious stone inlaid canopic coffinettes that contained the boy king's mummified internal organs.

Also on display are more than 70 additional objects from the tombs of other 18th Dynasty royals and non-royal individuals. Another exhibition at the museum, "Opening Tutankhamu's Tomb: The Harry Burton Photographs," features 38 prints that document the discovery of King Tut's untouched tomb.

Visitors to the Dallas Museum of Art can also view "Take Your Time: Olafur Eliasson," which includes installations, large-scale immersive environments, freestanding sculpture and photography Eliasson completed from 1993 to the present.

At the Nasher Sculpture Center, participants can see "George Segal: Street Scenes," featuring 15 of Segal's single- and multi-figure installations that explore the themes of urban life.

On display at the Crowe Collection of Asian Art are exhibitions of Chinese tomb art, tigers in Japanese art, Japanese snuff bottles and contemporary Japanese quilts.

Cost for the tour is $60 for community members. The price includes transportation, lunch, admission to the Dallas Museum of Art and Tutankhuman exhibition, and admission to the Nasher Sculpture Center. Admission to the Crowe Collection of Asian Art is free. Participants will need to bring money for a fast-food supper.
