Investiture
Neal Weaver, Ph.D.
What is an investiture?
An investiture ceremony is a prestigious academic tradition that marks the formal installation of a new university president. During this ceremony, the president is officially "vested" with the powers of their office, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter in the university's history. The ceremony typically features academic traditions, music, special speakers, and remarks from the president, bringing together the university community to celebrate this transition in leadership.
The upcoming Investiture Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, in Griffith Fine Arts Building, Turner Auditorium. A reception will follow the ceremony, providing an opportunity for attendees to gather and celebrate this momentous occasion.
