SFA Music Preparatory Division students qualify for regional orchestras

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Several students in the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music secured positions on the TMEA  All Region Orchestra during recent competition in Kilgore.
 
“We are delighted to announce that 10 string students earned well-deserved spots in the prestigious Region 4 and Region 21 Orchestra,” said Alba Madrid, director of the Music Preparatory Division.
 
Students qualifying for middle school orchestra included Melanie Walburn, first chair as concertmaster, along with Leah Hendricks, Fernando Ramirez and Abigail Hendricks, violin.
 
Students qualifying for high school orchestra are Jonah Raychev, first chair as concertmaster, along with Hannah Trainor and Kira Gallander, violin; Josue Morales, viola; and Will Sams and Grace Hao, cello.
 
High school orchestra pre-area qualifiers were Jonah Raychev and Hanna Trainor, violin.
 
These accomplished students will participate in an All Region Orchestra clinic Friday, Dec. 1, in preparation for the concert at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Longview High School.
