International trombonist Tamaki Hoso to perform at SFA

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – International artist Yu Tamaki Hoso will present a guest trombone recital at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, in the Music Recital Hall, Wright Music Building, on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.
 
A Japanese solo trombonist active worldwide, Tamaki Hoso is a chamber and orchestra musician, educator, entrepreneur, published author and producer.
 
Accompanying on this concert is Dr. Thomas Nixon, collaborative pianist at SFA. Dr. Deb Scott, professor of trombone, will also perform on “Ave Maria” and “Libertango” by Ástor Piazzolla, arranged by Karen Marston.
 
Other works on the program are “Coat de Bone” by Derek Bourgeois; Piece for Trombone and Piano by Joseph Guy Ropartz; “Wie Melodien zieht es mir,” Op.105-1 by Johannes Brahms; “Du bist Die Ruh,” D. 776 by Franz Schubert; and Variations on a Theme of Paganini by Miho Hazama. The program also includes a multi-media experience using a video game and other technology with Tamaki on trombone.
                                                                                            
Tamaki Hoso resides in Denmark and serves as an official artist for Pro Arte Musicae of Tokyo, S.E. Shires Company of Boston, and Willie's Custom Brass of Yamanashi, as well as music director of FukuTama Festival in Shimane. 
 
Since 2018, he has focused on solo performance after a 15-year career as an orchestral trombonist in Japan, the U.S. and Europe. Currently focusing on giving recitals, concerto appearances and master classes, he has made appearances in Japan, the U.S., Denmark, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Norway, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Kingdom. His second album "Colors for Trombone" and first single "Game from An;G;El" were released in 2019 and are available on iTunes/Apple Music and other major streaming services.
