NACOGDOCHES, Texas – A solo exhibition of works by Candace Hicks, associate professor of art in the School of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University, will open the first week in October in the Transystem Gallery at Arts Fort Worth.

Hicks’ exhibition features work from her series “Notes for String Theory.”

“These hand-embroidered pages confront the existential possibilities of the blank page,” Hicks explains. “The size, format and color palette of notebook paper are familiar and warped at the same time. From across the room, they appear as flat, linear designs, but upon closer inspection reveal themselves to be delicately textured.”

A reception is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6. The exhibition will remain open through Nov. 25. For more information, contact Arts Fort Worth at (817) 738-1938. Arts Fort Worth is located at 1300 Gendy St., Fort Worth.
