NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Elizabeth Janzen, associate professor of flute at Texas A&M University – Kingsville, will collaborate with pianist Sehee Lee to present a guest recital at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.
 
The program will feature “Legacy,” by Jennifer Higdon; “1975,” by José Luis Hurtado; “A.N.S. - A New Sound,” by Trevor Weston; and “Duo for Flute and Piano,” by Aaron Copland.
 
A Burkart artist, Janzen performs as second flute/piccolo in the Victoria Symphony Orchestra. Her playing has been hailed in the New York Times as “…athletic, graceful…,” and she has established herself as a prominent musician, teacher and clinician across Canada, the United States and Mexico. As an orchestral musician, she works on both contemporary and period music with some of the world’s most recognized conductors, and she has performed with the Corpus Christi Symphony, Laredo Philharmonic, New Haven Symphony, Haddonfield Symphony and the Chelsea Symphony. She has served as a flute teacher, chamber coach and teaching artist for many acclaimed institutions, including the Manhattan School of Music Precollege, The Diller-Quaile School of Music, the New York Summer Music Festival, the New York Philharmonic and Carnegie Hall.
 
A native of Korea, Lee is a collaborative pianist, chamber musician and soloist in a variety of venues across the United States, Germany, Luxembourg, Mexico and Korea. She currently serves as assistant professor of practice, piano at Texas A&M University –Kingsville. She has previously served as collaborative artist in residence at multiple summer festivals including the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Vianden Music Festival and the Killington Music Festival, and she is also on the piano faculty at the New England Music Camp in Maine.
