NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The Office of Multicultural Affairs at Stephen F. Austin State University will host its first Brave Space Series of the fall semester at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Multimedia Room. The series’ discussion will focus on the Latinx community and culture.
“This series will cover topics ranging from machismo, anti-black racism, Latin American culture and more,” Andrea Flores, SFA student ambassador for OMA, said. “The event’s purpose is to not only teach people about Latinx culture but also educate them regarding the power they have to make improvements in their own communities.”
Each month, OMA’s Brave Space Series provides a forum for open and honest discussion concerning difficult topics.
“There will be several activities to help people break stereotypes that they might not be aware they are supporting,” Flores said.
The discussion is free and open to the SFA and Nacogdoches communities. For more information, visit http://www.sfasu.edu/multicultural/480.asp.
