NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s Stone Fort Museum will close Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, through Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, for university holidays and exhibit installations.
Exhibitions for 2018 will include Y’Barbo’s Stone House and the Stone Fort Museum featuring artifacts John Durst and his family used while living in the stone house from 1829 to 1834.
An exhibit on ‘everyday carry’ will examine the objects of past and present that people deem important enough to carry in their pockets, purses and packs at all times.
Regular museum hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The exhibitions are free and open to the public. The Stone Fort Museum is located at 1808 North Alumni Drive on the SFA campus.
