The $1.4 million Starr Avenue construction project is continuing, but the expected completion date has been reset for mid to late April, according to a press release issued by the Texas Department of Transportation.
The project originally was expected to be finished by early March and includes an upgrade of a section of the roadway from North Street to Clark Boulevard, widening the roadway from two to four lanes, with six-foot sidewalks and ADA-curb ramps to accommodate pedestrians. The widened roadway will consist of four 11-foot lanes with 3-foot shoulders. Traffic signals also will be replaced at North Street and Mound Street.
Starr Avenue has been closed since the project began, and motorists are advised to be cautious in the area, especially when crew members are working in close proximity to North Street. Traffic fines double when workers are present.
