NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of "The Salt of the Earth" at 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.
"The Salt of the Earth" reveals the life and work of Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado, who for the past 40 years has traveled through the continents witnessing major events of history - international conflicts, starvation and exodus. This film by his son, Juliano Ribeiro Salgado, and Wim Wenders, chronicles his quest to discover pristine territories, wild fauna and flora and grandiose landscapes as part of a huge photographic project as a tribute to the planet's beauty, according to information at imdb.com.
The film runs 110 minutes and is rated PG-13 for thematic material involving disturbing images of violence and human suffering and for nudity.
