NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The strings camp hosted by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music concludes today, July 11, with a concert at 3 p.m. in Cole Concert Hall in the Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building on the SFA campus.
Featured soloist will be violinist Andria Sowell, upcoming high school freshman at Regents Academy in Nacogdoches, performing the first movement of Joseph Haydn's Violin Concerto No. 2 in G major.
The orchestra will also perform Edward Elgar's "Serenade for Strings" and Percy Grainger's "Molly on the Shore" and others, according to Dr. Gene H. Moon, camp director.
The SFA strings camp invites junior high and high school students to be involved in a one-week intensive orchestra camp to work with nationally renowned faculty members including SFA's string faculty and students.
The concert is free and open to the public.
