'The Art of the Railroad' exhibit to open Jan. 21

The Center for Regional Heritage Research at SFA will display "The Art of the Railroad" exhibit starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot. The exhibit will focus on the interpretation of the railroad in different periods of art history.


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Center for Regional Heritage Research at Stephen F. Austin State University will display "The Art of the Railroad" exhibit starting Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot.

The Industrial Revolution brought about the development of the railroad in the 19th century. This invention had a profound impact on society and the art world. This exhibit focuses on the interpretation of the railroad in different periods of art history.

"The Art of the Railroad" exhibit was researched and developed by SFA College of Fine Arts graduate student Javier Franco Vega. Specializing in digital media at the university, Vega portrays this historical progression through a series of photography.

The exhibit will continue through Feb. 28. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays. The Nacogdoches Railroad Depot is located at 101 Old Tyler Road in Nacogdoches. The event is free and open to the public.
