NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts will present "Ramona Quimby" in two performances Friday, Feb. 8, as part of its Children's Performing Arts Series.

Two Beans Productions' play based on author Beverly Cleary's "Beezus and Ramona" series of award-winning books will be performed at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Feb. 8 in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the SFA campus.

The play follows the latest breathless adventure of Ramona, the exasperating but lovable third grader. While intended to tickle the funny bone, the play also incorporates issues that touch on the lives of real families, according to Diane J. Flynn, manager of the SFA Fine Arts Box Office and CPAS director.

"Life for Ramona is no picnic, and growing up is not easy," Flynn said. "But with the help of her loving and patient family and friends, Ramona takes on life's daily challenges as audiences laugh and cheer her on."

Theatreworks USA toured director Rob Barron's production of "Ramona Quimby" from September 1998 through May 2007. In September 2011, Two Beans Productions, under Barron's artistic direction, launched a new national tour of the play to introduce a new generation of children to Cleary's classic characters.

The 60-minute play, without an intermission, features five actors and is appropriate for ages 6 and up. Tickets are $6 for individuals and $5 per person for groups of 20 or more.

To order tickets, call (936) 468-6407 or 888-240-ARTS. Visit the CPAS website at www.cpas.sfasu.edu for more information.
