SFA's Music Prep students earn positions in All-Region orchestras


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - A number of violin students in the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music's Preparatory Division earned positions in All-Region orchestras earlier this fall in competition in Tyler.

The students are studying with Music Prep teachers Dr. Jennifer Dalmas, Brenda Josphesen and Melissa Nabb.

"Music Prep is very proud of these students for this great accomplishment," said Pat Barnett, director of the Music Prep division.

Middle school students selected as first violinists were Chloe Cook, second chair; Andria Sowell, third chair; Isaiah Bertke, fifth chair; and Alyssa Nunn, seventh chair. Students selected as second violinists included Grace DeKerlegand, first chair; Catherine Meisenheimer, fourth chair; Jake Hill, fifth chair; Megan Langford, seventh chair; Mattie Chauvin, 10th chair; and Emma DeKerlegand, 14th chair.

High school students selected as first violinists were Joanna Schlaudt, fourth chair, and Annaleigh Andrews, 13th chair. Students selected as second violinists were Aaron Bertke, first chair; and Megan Hutchison, third chair; and Kyla Alders, 16th chair.

These students will perform as members of Districts 4 and 21 All-Region orchestras at the clinic concert on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Longview High School.
