NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University Dance Program will present "Danceworks," a concert featuring the SFA Repertory Dance Company and senior choreographic projects, Nov. 21-23 in the Lucille Norton HPE Complex Dance Studio, Room 201, on the SFA campus.
Directed by professor Stan Bobo and assisted by adjunct faculty member Heather Samuelson of the SFA Department of Kinesiology and Health Science, the concert will feature original works by faculty members, guest artist choreography and six senior dance majors' choreographic projects.
The SFA Repertory Dance Company will perform the historic tap dance "Leon Collins' #53" and Linda Phenix's percussive "Cross Talk," in addition to a theatrical jazz dance inspired by the style of Bob Fosse and a whimsical, light-hearted dance that will awaken the child within.
Guests also may donate canned food items for the Nine Flags Christmas Festival "Stock the Pantry" Canned Food Drive sponsored by the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau. All canned food items donated will be given to local charities to benefit Nacogdoches County residents.
Performance times are 7 p.m. Nov. 21 and 22 and 3 p.m. Nov. 23. Tickets, which will be sold at the door, are $10 for general admission, $8 for seniors and SFA faculty and staff members, and $5 for students. The box office is located in the lobby of the Lucille Norton HPE Complex and will open one hour before the concert. Cash and checks will be accepted.
