NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Hours for the Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, Stephen F. Austin State University's art gallery located in downtown Nacogdoches, will follow regular schedules throughout spring break.
The Cole Art Center, located at 329 E. Main St., is open from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Exhibitions now on display include "Big Skies, Brave People: Southwest American Art from the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, Canyon, Texas" in the Ledbetter Gallery and "Linda Ridgway: A Song Only to Herself" showing in the Reavley Gallery.
"Big Skies, Brave People" captures the people, landscape and culture of the American Southwest and features American Indian paintings and works from the highly regarded Taos Colony, Taos Society of Artists and Santa Fe Colony. The show will run through March 22.
The Ridgway exhibition features bronze sculpture and drawings on paper, the subjects of which are directly related to childhood memories of Ridgway's own mother reading from Robert Frost's writings. The show will run through March 30.
Regarding the Easter schedule, Cole Art Center will be open Thursday and Friday, March 28 and 29, and closed Saturday, March 30. Griffith Gallery in the Griffith Fine Arts Building on the SFA campus will be closed Thursday and Friday, March 28 and 29. Regular hours for Griffith Gallery are 12:30 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.
All gallery exhibitions are free. Art exhibitions are sponsored in part by the Nacogdoches Junior Forum and SFA Friends of the Visual Arts.
