A group of interior design students at Stephen F. Austin State University is supporting recycling efforts and promoting environmental awareness by hosting a "recycled" fashion show competition.
Designed to strengthen eco-friendly awareness on campus by highlighting creative ideas and designs, the "Green is the New Black" fashion show features outfits that incorporate a variety of recycled materials. Fashions that will be modeled showcase the work of both student and professional designers.
This is the second year for the annual event, which is a project of the International Interior Design Association and the American Society of Interior Designers student group. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winning designs.
The show will begin at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Twilight Ballroom. Guests may visit vendor booths beginning at 6 p.m.
Admission fee is $3. Attendees will receive a 50-cent discount on the entrance fee by bringing 10 aluminum cans to contribute to SFA's recycling effort.
