NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Hours for the Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, Stephen F. Austin State University's art gallery located in downtown Nacogdoches, will be extended during the Christmas and New Year's semester break, according to John Handley, director of galleries for SFA.
The Cole Art Center, located at 329 E. Main St., will be open regular hours Dec. 18 through Dec. 22. It will be closed Dec. 25 and 26 and open during regular hours Dec. 27 through 29. The Cole Art Center will resume a regular schedule beginning Wednesday, Jan. 2. Regular hours are from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Exhibitions now on display through Jan. 12 include "The World of William Joyce" showing in the Ledbetter Gallery. This exhibit was organized by the National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature, Abilene, Texas. Joyce is an author and illustrator of more than 50 children's books. Showing in the Reavley Gallery is "Todd Slater: The Art of Rock." Slater, an SFA graduate, displays 25 examples of his original silkscreen posters featuring a who's who of rock and roll band performances.
These exhibitions are featured as part of the SFA College of Fine Arts' University Series.
Griffith Gallery in the Griffith Fine Arts Building on the SFA campus will close Friday, Dec. 14, and will reopen with the "Contemporary Western Art" exhibition reception at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17.
