NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art has announced that The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches will close for a week after 5 p.m. Saturday, May 26.
The last day to view "TEXAS NATIONAL 2012" in the downstairs Ledbetter Gallery and "Stephen Mueller: (1947-2011): In Memoriam" in the upstairs Reavley Gallery will be May 26.
The staff will then spend the next several days taking down those exhibitions and hanging "Two Cities: A Path to Faith (1983-1992), Photographs by the Rev. Howard Castleberry" in the Reavley Gallery.
The exhibition features photographs taken in Annapolis, Md., and Somalia when Castleberry, current rector of Christ Episcopal Church, was serving as a photojournalist with National Geographic and The Houston Chronicle. It will open with a public reception at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 2.
The Art Center will also be open for the 7 p.m. free screening of "Stitched," on Friday, June 1, as part of the School of Art's First Friday Night Film Series. The documentary follows three art quilters as they prepare for and compete in the nation's largest quilt show.
