NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Following a five-concert tour of high schools in Central and East Texas, the SFA Wind Ensemble will present its "Welcome Home" concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the SFA campus.

"We have prepared a program of music by American composers," said Fred J. Allen, SFA director of bands and the conductor of the Wind Ensemble. "Playing in various high schools each winter is important for the visibility of SFA and our band program, and what better way to inspire high school musicians than by sharing with them the best music written in our country?"

Featured works include "Millenium Canons" by Kevin Puts and "Baron Cimetiere's Mambo" by Donald Grantham.

Both of these composers are on the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin," Allen said, "and they are at the forefront of American musi today."

David W. Campo, associate director of bands, will conduct "O Cool Is the Valley" by Vincent Persichetti, and Brett A. Richardson, assistant director of bands, will conduct "Wild Nights" by Frank Ticheli.

The Nacogdoches concert is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and School of Music. W.M. Turner Auditorium is located in the Griffith Fine Arts Building, 2222 Alumni Dr.
