SFA to present saxophone quartet in concert

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Four saxophonists who comprise the Oasis Quartet will present "À la Française," a concert of French masterworks written or set for saxophone quartet, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, in Cole Concert Hall. The concert is a part of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music's Cole Performing Arts Series.

Nathan Nabb, newly hired associate professor of saxophone at SFA, plays the soprano saxophone in the ensemble. Other members are James Bunte, alto saxophone; Dave Camwell, tenor saxophone; and James Romain, baritone saxophone.

Founded in 2006, the Oasis Quartet has received rave reviews of its live performances and for its innovative and creative clinic and concert programming. The "À la Française" program includes recognizable names in French music--Maurice Ravel and Francis Poulenc--as well as Florent Schmitt and Jean River.

Cole Concert Hall is located in the Wright Music Building, 2210 Alumni Dr.
