NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will present a series of recitals Monday, May 3, through Saturday, May 22. The recitals, which provide an opportunity to showcase the talents and accomplishments of the students enrolled in the various programs, are free and open to the public.
Harp students of Mollie Marcuson will perform at 6 p.m. Monday, May 3, in the Music Recital Hall, Room 160 of the Wright Music Building located at 2210 Alumni Dr. on the SFA campus.
On Saturday, May 8, piano students of Dr. Ping-Ting Lan will present their recital at 4:30 p.m. in Cole Concert Hall, also located in the Wright Music Building.
At 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, students of Noah Claytor (cello), Brandon Pierce (violin), Andrea Slate (horn), Max Wilson (bass), and piano students of Stephen Adams, Amy Frenzel, Meghan Kelly, Bethany Rasmussen, Matthew Webb and Missy White will perform in Cole Concert Hall.
On the same day, Mary Cooper's piano students will present their recital at 4 p.m. in the same venue.
Students of Dr. Jennifer Dalmas (violin), Dr. Evgeni Raychev (cello), Richard Leppert (viola) and Max Wilson (cello) will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 10, in the Music Recital Hall.
Each Suzuki violin student of Brenda Josephsen will perform in the Music Recital Hall in either the 6 p.m. recital on Friday, May 14, or at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 15.
Piano students of Linda Parr and Dr. John Roberts will present their "May Madness Recital" at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, in Cole Concert Hall.
The Music Preparatory Division has been offering musicianship classes and private instruction for East Texas students for over 25 years. It is a member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts.
