NACOGDOCHES - Parents of newborns through 7-year-olds can register their children for Kindermusik classes offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University Music Preparatory Division that will begin the week of Feb. 1.
Karen Greer and Erin Tang, certified and licensed Kindermusik teachers, will offer four different age-appropriate classes in which parents and children will play, learn, sing, dance, create and share in the fun of making music together, said Pat Barnett, director of the Music Preparatory Division.
"Kindermusik is an early childhood music and movement program based on the belief that every child is musical, every parent is the child's most important teacher, and the home is the most important place for learning to take root and grow," Barnett continued.
"Each course includes take-home materials so that the children and parents can continue this unique musical experience."
Each class is limited to 12 students, and the registration deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 20.
Caregivers and their newborns to 18-month-olds can register for one of two sessions of the Village class "Cock-a-Doodle-Moo" taught by Tang: Tuesdays from 5:15 to 6 p.m. or Fridays from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Cost for the eight-week course is $110.
Greer will teach the Our Time class "Away We Go!" to caregivers and their 18-month- to 3-year-olds on Thursdays from 5:15 to 6 p.m. Cost for the 12-week course is $170.
Children 3 to 4 years are eligible for the Imagine That class "Toys I Make, Trips I Take," which Tang will teach on Thursdays from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Cost for the 12-week course is $180.
Five- to 7-year-olds can participate in Greer's "Young Child II Class" on Mondays from 6 to 7 p.m. Cost for the 12-week course is $190.
