Dr. Danny R. Arnold has been named dean of the Nelson Rusche College of Business at Stephen F. Austin State University and will join the faculty Aug. 1, pending approval by the Board of Regents.
Arnold currently is a professor of marketing and dean of the College of Business Administration at Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. He is a former dean and professor of marketing at both Frostburg State University and New Mexico State University.
Early in his career, Arnold worked as an assistant professor of marketing at SFA from 1976 to 1979.
"I am confident Dr. Arnold's many years of experience as a college of business dean will prove very valuable as he fulfills this role in the Nelson Rusche College of Business," said SFA President Baker Pattillo. "I am very happy to welcome him back to our university and look forward to the strong leadership he will provide our business students and faculty."
The new dean earned his Doctor of Business Administration in 1976 from Louisiana Tech University, where he majored in marketing and minored in finance, management and economics. He completed both a Bachelor of Science in accounting and a Master of Business Administration with finance emphasis at Louisiana Tech in 1969 and 1973.
Arnold was an assistant professor of marketing at McNeese State University for one year before arriving at SFA in 1976. He joined the Mississippi State University faculty in 1979 and was promoted to professor of marketing in 1986. He served as acting director of graduate studies in business for one year before assuming the role of associate dean for internal affairs at Mississippi State in 1989.
He served as dean at New Mexico State from 1994 until 2003 when he was named dean at Frostburg State. He has served as dean of Missouri State's College of Business since March 2009.
