NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the SFA campus.

The scenic cantata, composed between 1935 and 1936, is based on 24 of the poems found in the medieval collection of the same title. SFA's presentation will feature the SFA combined choirs, orchestra, and faculty soloists Debbie Berry, soprano; Bruce Fowler, tenor; and David Howard, baritone.

"It has been nine years since we last presented this 20th century masterwork written by one of the world's leading music educators," said Tim King, director of choral activities at SFA. "The students love it, and audience members-from concert goers to TV commercial watchers-will recognize the music."

All of the proceeds from the concert will go toward the A Cappella Choir's upcoming tour of Italy. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students. For tickets or more information, please visit www.sfasu.edu/finearts or call (936) 468-6407 or (888) 240-ARTS.
