Staff members from Stephen F. Austin State University's Office of Public Affairs earned a total of five awards at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education's recent District IV conference in Oklahoma City, Okla.
University photographer Hardy Meredith received Grand Awards (first place) in both the Candid Black & White and Structured Black & White Photography categories for his photos "Header" and "Shadow Slugger," respectively. He also received an Award of Excellence (second place) in the category of Candid Color Photography for his photo "Small Package - Big Trouble."
Joseph Alford, publications specialist, received a Grand Award in the category of two- or three-color Brochures/Flyers/Booklets for his design of SFA's strategic plan booklet titled "Strategic Plan 2013: Preparing for the Future."
The Office of Public Affairs also earned a Special Award (fourth place) in the category of General Institutional Literature for its second edition of The SFA Vista, a new university magazine launched in 2008. Office of Public Affairs staff members who worked on the award-winning issue are Shirley Luna, associate director of public affairs/media relations; Hardy Meredith, university photographer; and Amy Roquemore, editorial coordinator. SFA graduate student and freelance designer Carolyn McIntyre Norton provided design and illustration services for the project.
CASE is the organization for advancement professionals working in alumni relations, communications, fundraising, marketing and related areas. Membership includes more than 3,400 colleges, universities, independent elementary and secondary schools, and educational associates in 61 countries around the world. District IV encompasses Arkansas, Louisiana, Mexico, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
