NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Area 6- to 12-year-olds may register for a perspective drawing class offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House as part of the Creative Art Saturday program.

Under the guidance of SFA Assistant Professor Marsha Blount and art education majors, participants will view thought-provoking artwork by the surrealist artist René Magritte and then create a surreal perspective drawing by juxtaposing ordinary objects in unusual contexts to create a landscape.

Registration for the drawing class is $5 and covers the cost of the materials. Parents may pre-register by e-mailing Blount at blountmarsh@sfasu.edu. Registrations will also be accepted 30 minutes prior to the class, as space permits. Class size is limited to 20.

The Cole Art Center is located at 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches.

"We ask that parents escort the children to and from the classroom that is on the second floor of the center," Blount said. "Parents are also welcome, but not required, to stay."
