SFA's 20th annual Gala honors major donors to SFA

The 20th annual Gala to honor major donors to Stephen F. Austin State University is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Fredonia Hotel in Nacogdoches. Gala festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with a formal dance, followed by a candlelight dinner at 7 p.m. and presentations at 8 p.m.

"In addition to honoring our major donors and two outstanding faculty members, this year's Gala will commemorate the 85th anniversary of the university," said Jill Still, director of development and coordinator of the Gala.

Entertainment will be provided by the Tom Houston Combo and Time Machine, a Texas-based band that plays hits ranging from 1970's disco to current hits.

Dr. Thomas Houston has been a member of the SFA faculty since 1967. His orchestra and combo are devoted to keeping Big Band music alive and have performed throughout the Southwest and the western Caribbean.

Single ticket prices are $160 for orchestra seating and $110 for ballroom seating. Tables seat up to10 guests, and special seating arrangements are accommodated when possible. Valet parking is provided.

Proceeds from the Gala, which is sponsored by the SFASU Foundation, will help build the permanent endowment created by the foundation to honor faculty achievement. As a commitment to excellence, this continually growing endowment recognizes innovation and excellence in teaching, research and service.
