Digital Audio Files
- MP3, WAV, or WMA as the file format
- Record at least at 120kbps (kilobytes per second)
Audio Cassette Tapes
- Brand name
- Use 60 minute tapes (avoids stretching)
- Pop out 'write protection' tab, to ensure that tape is not overwritten by accident
Digital Video Files
- AVI or WMV (MPEG2 or MPEG4), or DivX as the file format
VHS
- S-VHS (60-90 minute tapes), known as 'Super VHS'
- Record in standard mode; not 'Long Play' or 'Extended Play'
- Do not use Betamax or Video-200
