NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Chicago-based ~Nois Saxophone Quartet will bring their signature concert experience combining contemporary chamber music and improvisation to Cole Concert Hall on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus when the ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 17.
~Nois has become one of the premier ensembles in the U.S. The group has been awarded top prizes at prestigious chamber music competitions including the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the M-Prize International Arts Competition.
Their program at SFA features “Sun Thrower” by Darian Donovan Thomas; “they can finally breathe” by Kennedy Taylor Dixon; “When Babies Sleep” by Nathan Schram; “To Speak As One” by Bobby Ge; and “Thirteen Changes” by Pauline Oliveros.
Ensemble members Hunter Bockes, Jordan Lulloff, János Csontos and Julian Velasco are dedicated to expanding and redefining the saxophone quartet repertoire, having premiered over 60 works.
