"This is where my grandmother, Eva Gillespie Emanis Davis, lived at one time. There was an old, old wooden home here. In the spring, a few jonquils still come up. The little house had only two rooms (that's what I remember) and had never, seemingly, seen paint. My Aunt Nara Emanis Hughes and her family lived down the road. The little house was on my Uncle Voyde Hughes's property. I remember visiting my grandmother here when I was young- elementary school age. I thought it was cool that she lived in such a small place. The iron bed dominated the room with its colorful quilts."
