"This is the general area where the Cooper School was located. All of my life, I've heard stories from my mom, aunts, and uncles about going to school here. One of the stories was about Olen Oliver swallowing something and choking on it. The teacher picked him up by the heels and shook him until the object came out. My mom said it was scary at first, but when they saw that Olen was okay, they started laughing. Many of the stories are about fun things that happened, but there are a lot of stories about teachers, too - some nice, some not, some strict, some not. The school must have done a good job of educating its students because my mom, aunts, and uncles have all been successful in life. It amazed me that children from different grade levels were in the same classroom."
