Title: Cotton Field
"Working in the cotton field right behind our house made me want to go to college so I would never have to chop or hoe cotton again. We also had corn crops for a while that were picked and put in the barn to feed animals with. There were terraces in the field that we grew watermelons on. I never picked the cotton because it happened in Sept. when school was starting. My mother would drive 12 miles to Timpson to the cotton pickers, bring them back to Arcadia and then drive the opposite way to Center, another 11 miles, to work in the grocery store."
"Greg Grant is growing pines in this area now."
