Title: Cane Field
"It was where I learned to work hard. This is the approximate location of a field where we grew sugar cane. The area was a low damp area near the creek and had lots of mosquitoes. We always wore long sleeves because the leaves of cane are like knives. After it matured, we would chop it down with machetes, strip off the leaves and load it on a wagon to take to the syrup mill."
"This was the third time I lived in Arcadia after moving back in 1954 as a teenager."
"This area is now under water which is called Emanis Lake. It's about a mile into the woods near the old Emanis House I lived in when I was four years old."
