Title: M & E Grocery
"Because my grandparents used to own the little M & E Grocery in this building which was originally located on FM 1645 just south of FM 138. I learned to count change here and would watch all the locals come and go. Cousin Ray Smith always got a can of tomato juice and was always black with grease & oil from head to toe. Half-cousin Mirt Patteson always got an orange soda pop. He had no teeth! The guys would sit out front on propped up "Coke" cases and gossip. I hated to see cousin Doc Smith coming because he had skin cancer all over his face and I couldn't stand to look at it. M & E stood for Marquette and Eloy."
