SFA graduate student to serve as section editor for psychology journal
June 28, 2016
Stephen F. Austin State University graduate student Ashley Doss has been selected to serve as the graduate student section editor for Research and Practice in the Schools: Official Journal of the Texas Association of School Psychologists. Doss is working toward her master's and doctoral degrees in school psychology at SFA.
During her two years as graduate student section editor, Doss will be responsible for recruiting graduate students to serve on the Graduate Student Editorial Board, coordinating the peer-review process of submitted manuscripts, communicating feedback and editorial decisions to authors, and working with editors to maintain the journal's standards, as well as provide input on potential journal issues and topics.
"This opportunity means I'm beginning to take root in my career," Doss said. "I believe your career starts the second you begin higher education, and this is a great opportunity to take root, create connections and establish a network."
Doss added her editorial appointment creates a pattern of publication in the school psychology field-incorporating the dual role of practice and publishing, which she says is extremely important in bridging the gap between field work and research.
