SFA A Cappella Choir selected to perform for American Choral Directors Association
February 21, 2012
The SFA A Cappella Choir will be performing at the spring convention for the Southwestern Division of the American Choral Directors Association in Dallas on Thursday, March 1. The 52-member ensemble is one of only seven university choirs invited to perform for the choral directors representing public and private schools in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Under the direction of Dr. Tim King, professor of music and director of choral activities at SFA, the choir will present a varied program that ranges from Ko Matsushita's "Jubilate Deo," a setting of Psalm 100 written for 16 voice parts, and Michael Haydn's recounting of Christ's crucifixion in "Tenebrae Factae Sunt" to Johannes Brahms' light-hearted drinking song, "Tafellied."
This performance is one of two important highlights for the A Cappella Choir this spring. In May the students will embark on an 11-day concert tour of Austria and the Czech Republic.
