SFA Campus Recreation director to serve on national assembly
November 4, 2010
Ken Morton, director of campus recreation at Stephen F. Austin State University, recently was appointed to serve on the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association Assembly.
NIRSA is the leading resource for professional and student development, education and research in collegiate recreational sports. As a member of the inaugural assembly, Morton will join 18 other professionals in sharing knowledge and ideas on issues within collegiate recreation.
Morton was named director of campus recreation at SFA in August 2010. He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. He comes to SFA after nearly 10 years at California State University, Sacramento, where he served as the coordinator of recreational sports from 2001 to 2009. Most recently, he was associate director of the university's 150,000-square-foot recreation and wellness center.
"As Ken serves throughout the year on the assembly, we anticipate that his contributions and volunteer service will have a positive impact on NIRSA as well as Campus Recreation at Stephen F. Austin State University," said Kent Blumenthal, executive director of NIRSA. "Ken is a valued member of NIRSA and his volunteer service is an example to us all."
