Unique trombone/percussion duo to perform at SFA
September 14, 2010
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present a free concert by the Brian Allen and Hernan Hecht Duo Monday, September 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall of the Wright Music Building on the SFA campus.
Allen, who writes his own music, is one of the world's greatest trombonists, according to Dr. Deb Scott, SFA associate professor of trombone. He and percussionist Hecht perform regularly in Mexico and the United States, and are currently touring Texas as they promote their new album, "Dr. Hueipi."
"This will be unlike any other trombone concert you've ever heard," Scott said. "Brian is an extremely creative person who uses his talent to come up with new ways to make sound, using anything at his disposal. The audience will hear an entirely new concept of playing the trombone."
The Music Recital Hall is located in Room 160 of the Wright Music Building, 2210 Alumni Dr. For more information, please call (936) 468-6407 or (888) 240-ARTS.
