NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As part of its monthly film series, the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free one-night film screening of "Young @ Heart" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches.
The 107-minute film documents almost two months of rehearsal for the Young @ Heart Chorus, a group of two dozen seniors who specialize in reinterpreting rock, punk and R & B classics from a unique perspective.
"Named the 'Best International Feature' at the 2008 Los Angeles Film Festival, 'Young @ Heart' takes the viewer on an inspirational journey with a group of people who refuse to let age and ill health get them down," said Christian Cutler, SFA director of galleries.
The film, which is rated PG, is sponsored in part by the SFA School of Music, Flynn Paint and Ray Johnston Counseling Services. For more information, please call (936) 468-1131.
