NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University's SFA Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Jan. 10 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.

John S. "Jay" White will present "Home Garden Trends: Average Gardeners, Mean Vegetables and Distributed Benefits."

White and his wife, Sally, are the new owners and publishers of Texas Gardener magazine. White is an organic gardener from Brenham, Texas. His love of gardening inspired him to get his Master of Agriculture with a specialization in horticulture from Texas A&M University. While at university, he started an organic gardening website called The Masters of Horticulture, which can be viewed at masterofhort.com, and began writing for Texas Gardener.

Texas Gardener magazine is one of the oldest continuously published gardening magazines in the country. For 38 years, the magazine has been produced "for Texas gardeners, by Texas gardeners." The magazine owes its success to the incredibly talented professional and lay gardeners who have consistently provided the gardeners of the Lone Star State with the most current and fact-based information needed to grow plants successfully in the incredibly diverse climate and landscapes of Texas.

The Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series is held the second Thursday of each month and includes a rare-plant raffle after the program. The lecture is free and open to the public, but donations to the Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series fund are always appreciated.

Parking is available at the PNPC and Raguet Elementary School, located at 2428 Raguet St.
