Recruiting at SFA

Employer Resources

Home to six academic colleges, SFA is focused on providing transformative experiences for our students. Are you interested in recruiting our students and alumni to enhance your business? The Center for Career and Professional Development has resources and opportunities for you to bring a Lumberjack on board.

Handshake is SFA's online platform for student recruitment and career management! It features our job and internship board, employer and student messaging, and our registration process for campus recruitment events. Explore Handshake’s Employer Guide to help you become acquainted. You can create an account by following this link. Already have an account? Log in and connect. For more about recruiting at SFA, take a look at our Employer Recruiting Guidelines.

Career Fairs

Career fairs are a great way for employers to meet face-to-face with current SFA students and alumni. Registration for career fairs are done through Handshake. Upcoming fairs, future dates and registration information is available on our Career Fairs page.

Information tables

Visit with students about available internship, part-time and full-time job opportunities in a casual environment on campus! A table can be located in the Baker Pattillo Student Center or outside on the plaza. There is a reservation fee for hosting an informational table on campus.

Tables are reserved through the CCPD. To begin the reservation process, please fill out this Information Table Request Form or contact the CCPD at ccpd@sfasu.edu.

Workshops and Information sessions

Host a career development session or workshop to share helpful job search tips directly from an employer's perspective. While you have a captive audience, feel free to share information about opportunities available with your company!

You will need to either create an account or log in to Handshake to schedule a session.

Speak to a class or student organization

Speak to a class or student organization in relation to your organization or positions available to help target a particular audience.

For more information on speaking to a class, email ccpd@sfasu.edu.

On-campus interviews

On-campus interviews allow you as an employer to not only recruit on campus, but also interview students for career and internship opportunities.

We especially recommend setting up on-campus interviews if you are already on campus for a career fair or informational table.

Would you like to conduct an on-campus interview?

  1. Log in to your Handshake account.
  2. Select "Request an Interview".
  3. Complete the requested information:
    • Preferred dates
    • Type of interview you would like to conduct (see below for details)
    • Number of rooms your company would like to use
    • Duration of your available interview time slots

After receiving departmental approval for your on-campus interview request, you will receive a confirmation email from a CCPD team member with additional information to help plan your trip to Nacogdoches and the SFA campus.

Interview Types

Pre-select interviews: Allow an employer to screen interested applicants that have submitted their résumé on Handshake. Employers may then select those screened applicants for an interview.

Open interviews: Allow students to directly sign up for an interview time on the interview schedule (without first being screened).

Rooms only: For employers who want to generate their own schedule and simply want to use our interview suite; this option is ideal if the interview follows a career expo or information session. Students cannot directly sign up for an interview via Handshake. Custom interview schedules can be created on Handshake!
