Dr. Tito Guerrero, President 2001-06
Under the leadership of Dr. Tito Guerrero, SFA’s seventh president, SFA's entrance standards were increased and $200 million in bonds were approved for new construction projects: residence halls, parking garages, recreational facilities, and an extensive addition to the Student Center. From 2001 through 2006, SFA received more than $40 million in gifts and $200 million in extramural funding under Guerrero’s leadership. New degree programs were created, including a bachelor of fine arts degree in creative writing and master’s degrees in spatial science and resource interpretation. During his tenure, a tuition assistance program was created to assist SFA employees and their family members in the pursuit of higher education.
