SFA theatre students to present Heifner play 'Twister'


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present the student-directed, one-act play "Twister" by SFA Playwright-In-Residence Jack Heifner at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in the Downstage Theatre on the SFA campus.

McAllen senior Pedro Adan Dominguez is the director, and he describes "Twister" as the story of a couple that survives a destructive natural disaster to find that their dreams for the future have been very different.

SFA's Rockin' Axes to present 'The History of Rock'


SFA's Rockin' Axes will perform "The History of Rock" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 30, in the Twilight Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the SFA campus. Admission is free.

Austin State University, will have its world premiere on a national stage when the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra performs it at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

SFA Department of History to host noted historian


The Department of History will host Dr. Patrick Manning, Professor Emeritus of World History at the University of Pittsburgh and the former president of the American Historical Association.

SFA professor receives national, local accolades


Dr. Le'Ann Solmonson, Stephen F. Austin State University professor in the counselor education program and chair-elect of the Faculty Senate, has been named the American Association of University Women's Woman of the Year for higher education. Solmonson also was appointed as a trustee to the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling.

SFA to host Earth Day celebration


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University's Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture and SFA Gardens will host an Earth Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center located at 2900 Raguet St.

The event, held in conjunction with the SFA Gardens Mast Arboretum spring plant sale, is a family-friendly gathering that aims to engage the community in the outdoors and sustainable living.
