In 1977 the Association of Gravestone Studies was founded to study and preserve historic cemeteries and gravestones. Through the years state chapters have been started across the country and thanks to people like Melissa Eiring, Texas now has a chapter. The Texas Association of Gravestone Studies fall meeting will be held at Stephen F Austin State University on October 10th and 11th.
On Friday evening, October 10th there will be a tour of Sand Hill Cemetery. Sand Hill Cemetery is working hard to restore and preserve their cemetery. You are invited to tour the cemetery from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
On Saturday, October 11th we will meet in Room 102 of the Dugas Liberal Arts Building on the campus of Stephen F Austin State University.
